From the demand side, on the one hand, the continuously rising electricity price has led to a surge in demand for household energy storage. On the other hand, the poor stability of the power supply has stimulated the demand of residents.


From the perspective of the supply side, solar has formed a relatively mature system in terms of technology and application and has a high penetration rate in some overseas developed regions. With the transformation of the photovoltaic development model from subsidized and full-scale grid-connected to self-economy-driven and self-contained, the demand for supporting energy storage has gradually become prominent.


Affected by factors such as the epidemic and supply chain shortages, the global new household energy storage market will still maintain a rapid growth trend in 2021. The installed capacity of newly put-into-operation electric energy storage projects is 18.3 GW, a year-on-year increase of 185%. Among them, since 2021, household energy storage in Europe and the United States has shown explosive growth at an annual rate of doubling. Relevant data show that the total new installed capacity will reach 63.4GW/202.5GWh from 2021 to 2026, of which household use can reach 4.9GW/14.3GWh.


The demand side and the supply side have created market enthusiasm, and global companies are also accelerating their deployment in the field of household energy storage.

At the same time, the penetration rate of solar-storage integration in the United States and Germany is also increasing, from 0.25% and 2.39% in 2020 to 1.24% and 10.02% in 2025, an increase of 4.96 times and 4.19 times respectively.


The increase in the penetration rate of photovoltaic storage will bring a certain development space for household energy storage. Since the beginning of this year, the demand for energy storage equipment in Europe has increased significantly. To ensure market supply, my country's energy storage industry chain also responded quickly. Customs statistics show that in the first half of this year, the number of lithium-ion batteries exported by my country increased by 36.8% year-on-year, and the export volume of inverters soared by 576.7% year-on-year. At present, small-capacity batteries for household energy storage continue to be in short supply. Photovoltaic inverter manufacturers have successfully shipped energy storage inverter products through the original channels, and the price and profit have remained high. Household energy storage products have become their future Important performance growth point. It is expected that the industry will maintain rapid growth until 2025, with high electricity prices and low penetration rates being the core driving forces.
