break out! Greek Solar capacity to triple by 2022
March 17, 2023

According to data released by the Association of Greek Solar Companies, the installed capacity of the Greek solar market in 2022 will be three times that of 2021.

According to a comprehensive statistical analysis of the Solar market by the Greek Solar Companies Association, the new solar capacity will be 1.36GW in 2022, of which the industrial and commercial installations are more than twice that of household solars. These figures are preliminary as Greece's renewable energy regulator Dapeep has not officially announced the number of PV deployments for 2022.

Earlier, Greece's renewable energy regulator Dapeep released data showing that Greece installed 932 MW of new solar capacity in the first three quarters of 2022, excluding installations under net metering, which the country's distribution network operator will announce separately.

Given the current state of the solar market, the Greek government is looking to boost the residential sector by introducing a new incentive scheme specifically targeting residential solar+storage. The government said the new scheme would be announced soon, possibly by the end of March 2023.
