Will the price of solar inverters increase in 2021?
April 22 , 2021

Not long ago, two solar inverter manufacturers have successively issued price increase notices, and the price increase range of inverter products is 10%-15%.

Will the price adjustments of the two companies become a prelude to the price increase of the solar inverter industry? What impact will this have on the photovoltaic industry?

Affected by COVID-19 and changes in global market supply and demand, the core component chips and GBT power devices used in solar inverters have been extremely scarce recently, and prices have risen accordingly. In addition, the prices of bulk raw materials such as copper and aluminum, which are used in inverters, are also rising. In the future, the prices of core components of these inverters will continue to rise.

Similarly, the rapid changes in the global raw material market indicate that “currently, the supply chain is becoming increasingly tight, and the prices of bulk raw materials are not only rising, but the delivery cycle is delayed”.

As one of the core components of photovoltaic inverters, chips are experiencing price increases and shortages. In the previous half month, 53 chip manufacturers had collectively issued price adjustment statements, with price increases ranging from 5% to 20%.

Due to the shortage of chips, the output and category of photovoltaic inverter products may be affected. "The development of household photovoltaics this year may far exceed expectations, so there will be a shortage of household inverters.
